Regular Email Campaigns: Visual HTML Code Editor

Last Updated: Aug 03 2017 01:17 pm UTC

Code editor is perfect for HTML savvy email marketers or experienced template developers, the code editor gives the flexibility to control every single pixel of your email.

You can build an email from scratch or paste your email template HTML code on one side of the screen and instantly see the result on the other side while you're editing it.

What you see is what you get - your code will not be modified in any way and the template will be sent just the way you've made it. As our Drag'n'Drop email editor has its own template coding language it does alter the code that you want to use.

Accessing The Visual Code Editor

To start using the visual code editor, go to the Template gallery or Campaigns Step 3 and click on the Visual Code Editor button as seen in the image below.

Once you're there, you will see a split screen where the left side is dedicated to the HTML code you want to write or paste and the right side of the screen will show the email design, and changes to the template in real time.

Adding Custom Fields

While editing the HTML code you have access to couple quick options:

  • the custom list fields or merge tags dropdown (available while building email campaign only, as we need to know which list you've selected to display the available fields)
  • survey link dropdown if you have created surveys in past

The merge tag will be added to the HTML code where your cursor is placed. Just click your cursor in the correct location of your HTML code and then choose any merge tag from the drop-down.

Image Gallery

While editing the HTML code you can also manage and add images from Mailigen's Image Gallery.

When you click on Image Gallery button a MoxyManager popup window will open, where you can manage your images, upload new and select the one you wish to add to your code. You will see an alert window that notifies you that the full destination link has been copied to your clipboard. All you have to do now is to click your mouse where you wish to add the image URL in your HTML code and click CTR+V.
