General Questions: Double Opt-in vs Single Opt-in

Last Updated: Jul 03 2020 06:42 am UTC

The main difference between double opt-in and single opt-in is that subscribers have to confirm signing up for your email list (DOI) or they’re signed up right after submitting their email addresses (SOI). You can use both methods, but subscribers gathered using double opt-in are less likely to report your emails as spam and your subscriber list will be more engaged.

You may already have your database ready, but if you use our sign up forms, keep in mind how both options work:

Single Opt-in

  1. After signing up contact will see Confirmation Thank You page (you can also skip this and redirect any new subscriber to your web page, for example):

  1. Contact will also receive Confirmation Thank You email (can be deactivated):

That's it — email is active in the list.

Double Opt-in

  1. After signing up contact will see Sign Up Thank You page (you can also skip this and redirect any new subscriber to your web page, for example):

  1. Contact will receive Opt-in Confirmation email:

At this point, the email address is inactive in the list and can be found in the inactive section of the list.

  1. After the confirmation button has been clicked, contact will be lead to Confirmation Thank You page (you can also skip this and redirect any new subscriber to your web page, for example):

  1. Contact will also receive Confirmation Thank You email (can be deactivated):

Now the email is active in the list.
