Edit a Survey: How Do I Edit a Survey Question?

To edit a survey question,

Click on the My Surveys Option from the Surveys Menu and select a survey to edit by clicking on it.

Navigate to Survey Questions (Step 2) of the Survey Wizard.

Note: You only edit survey questions of the survey wich is not activated.

Once the survey has been opened,

  • click on the Edit Icon of the question that you wish to edit. This will open the Edit Question Window for that specific type of question. Mailigen supports the following survey question types:
    • Single answer radio button
    • Single answer drop-down
    • Multiple answer check-boxes
    • Rating
    • Free response
    • Ranking
    • Contact Form
    • Comment Block

Single answer (Radio and Drop down) and Multiple Answer

 You can edit the following for the Single Answer questions:

  • Question text—this is the question title
  • Answers—for each answer that you have as part of the question you can enter text or select an image. To select an image, click the Image Icon at the end of the text field. This will open the Image Manager. For more information about using the Image Manager, see the support topic, “Image Manager.”
    • To remove an answer, click on the Delete Icon at the end of the text field.
    • To add another answer, click on the Add Answer Link and specify either text or an image for the answer.
  • Question is required—check the box to have the question required as part of the survey
  • Add answer to contact info in database—check this box to have a new column added to the list contact table 
  • “Other” Option—check this box to enable a black “answer” that respondents can use to specify an answer not listed
  • Comment Field—check this box to include an optional comment field that respondents can use to provide more information about their answer.

Click the Save Question Button when finished.

You can edit the following for the Rate Items questions:

  • Question text—this is the question title
  • Answers—for each answer that you have as part of the question you can enter text or select an image. To select an image, click the Image Icon at the end of the text field. This will open the Image Manager. For more information about using the Image Manager, see the support topic, “Image Manager.”
    • To remove an answer, click on the Delete Icon at the end of the text field.
    • To add another answer, click on the Add Answer Link and specify either text or an image for the answer.
  • Question is required—check the box to have the question required as part of the survey
  • Comment Field—check this box to include an optional comment field that respondents can use to provide more information about their answer.

Click the Save Question Button when finished.

Free response

 You can edit the following for the Free Response questions:

  • Question text—this is the question title
  • Question is required—check the box to have the question required as part of the survey
  • Add answer to contact info in database—check this box to have a new column added to the list contact table

Click the Save Question Button when finished.

Contact Form

 You can edit the following for the Contact Form questions:

  • Import data into contact list database—check this box to import the contact information into the database as a new subscriber to a list.
  • Select list—use the drop down to use the contact fields from a specific list
  • Add custom field—click the Add Custom Field Link to add a drop down from which you can select the field to add to the Contact Form question. You can remove a field by clicking on the Delete Icon at the end of the drop-down.
  • Question is required—check the box to have the question required as part of the survey
  • Show only to anonymous responders—check the box to have the contact form question only shown to those respondents who aren't currently subscribers to the selected list.

Click the Save Question Button to confirm the changes.

Comment Block

A comment block is simply a block of text. These can be useful to describe a series of questions or a certain section of the survey. You can edit the following for a comment block,

  • Text—enter the text in the WYSIWYG editor. After entering your text, you can apply a variety of styles to one or more words including:
    • Bold
    • Italic
    • Underline
    • Strike-through
    • Align left
    • Align center
    • Align right
    • Justify
    • You can also add a hyperlink by highlighting some text and clicking on the Link Button. This will allow you to specify the website address, target (the same window, a new blank window, or a named window), and a title of the new window.

Click the Save Text Button to confirm the changes.
