Dynamic and RSS Campaigns: How To Add Dynamic Content?

Last Updated: Aug 18 2016 10:50 am UTC

Dynamic content enables you to add content when certain conditions have been met. For example, you can have certain content display when a merge tag contains a specific value.

To add dynamic content

  • If you are using the drag and drop editor, click on the dynamic content block and drag it to where you want to place the dynamic content.
  • If you are using the HTML editor, place your cursor in your content and click the dynamic content button.

Both ways will open the Add Conditional Content Window.

Conditional content is added by specifying parameters that equate to IF/ELSE statements. When the condition is met, the content within the dynamic content block is displayed.

There are two kinds of dynamic rules to add:

  • Rules—content is displayed if the condition is met
  • No Rules—content is displayed if the IF condition is not met

When you are finished, click the Add to Template Button to add the conditional text to your email campaign.

Rules

Rules are comprised of a number of different filters:

  • Filter—select this to have the content displayed if a specific merge tag meets some criteria. After selecting the merge tag from the drop-down, you can select the condition (i.e., equal to, contains, greater than, etc.), and then enter the value that will trigger the conditional text to display.

Once you have specified the filter, you can set what content to display:

  • Conditional text—you can either select Merge Tags to display or type whatever text you wish
  • RSS—you can also elect to have RSS content displayed. When you click this option you will need to enter a URL of your RSS feed.

You can add as many rules as you want by clicking the Add Rule Button

No Rules

In the event that the conditions of the rules are not met, you can still display some dynamic content:

  • Conditional text—you can either select Merge Tags to display or type whatever text you wish
  • RSS—you can also elect to have RSS content displayed. When you click this option you will need to enter a URL of your RSS feed.

Note: Dynamic content is available to Professional and Premium plan users only.
